Don’t Use Shampoo Every Day

One of the most important tips for having healthy hair is not to wash it every day! Because shampoo appears to be such a standard part of people’s hygiene routine, it can feel unsanitary to not use shampoo every day at first. However, shampoo actually strips away the natural oils in your hair, and when those oils are removed too often, it can be damaging to your precious mane. For someone people, washing their hair every other day is necessary, but for many people, their hair only needs to be washed once or twice a week. Experiment until you find a routine that’s best for you!

Get Haircuts Regularly

For those trying to grow out their hair, it’s often tempting to go long periods of time without going to get a haircut, because it can seem counterproductive. However, did you know that it’s actually better for your hair and for your hair growth to at least get a trim every six to eight weeks? That way, any damage at the tips like split ends can be removed. Make sure to tell your hairstylist the look you are going for so that if you plan to grow it out, they can take off the smallest amount possible to ensure maximum hair health.

Eat Enough Protein

It turns out that protein is one of the most important things you can eat to optimize hair health and growth, as it is one of the key components of the hair follicle. In addition, including enough iron in your diet will help source energy to hair to help it grow and stay healthy as well. While there are other organs in the body that surely need iron and protein before your hair does, eating enough will ensure that any excess goes to helping your hair stay happy as well as your body.
